TrendSet Summer 2010

Promising second half of the year.

Good order volumes at TrendSet Summer 2010.

From 10 to 12 July 2010, large brand-name manufacturers, importers, newcomers, and niche specialists from the areas living, dining, and lifestyle came together at the 96th TrendSet in Munich, Germany. More than 2,300 brands and collections as well as many trends and new products attracted over 31,600 attendees from the trade from Germany, Austria, Switzerland, northern Italy, and bordering EU member nations to the largest and most successful international trade fair in the southern German-speaking region. This represents a slight decrease compared to the 2009 summer fair of about 1 percent. Despite this, the order volumes were in part larger than expected and many exhibitors appeared to be quite satisfied with the course of business at the fair.

Positive order volumes and good business
The many visitors from the trade arrived with clear expectations for ordering, but allowed themselves to be inspired by exhibitors’ many new products, and then compiled their merchandise assortments for the second half of the year and beyond. A continuous rush was prevalent mainly at the large stands of the market leaders. “Already on the first day, our customers gave us substantial orders,” said Jörg Winterhagen, Owner and Manager of Classico Winterhagen GmbH in a pleased tone of voice. Oliver Selmer, Department Manager Key Accounts at Boltze Group, is also quite satisfied: “The value per order rose and even exceeded the good performance in 2007.” For Stefan Loges, Marketing Manager, Fisssler, the situation is clear: “We are impressed by TrendSet and will gladly be a part of it again.”

White and violet—between traditional and modern
The nine large halls of the Munich Trade Fair Centre appeared in white, purple, green and red, grey, and brown for TrendSet Summer 2010. Functionality and sustainability—paired, of course, with innovation—are continuing to set the trend in almost all ten living and lifestyle categories. Colour and symmetry are being played with. Archaic forms and natural materials—primarily wood, stone, and weathered metal—characterise the look both indoors and out. Light in the form of candles and lamps, along with new variations of ethanol burners, plays a central role during the dark season of the year. The area of glass, porcelain, and ceramics masters the balancing act between traditional and modern. In this area, the trend is leaning toward setting the table in an elegant and unadorned fashion. On the other hand, Christmas will be grandiose: Either with classic Christmas tree ornaments in purple or red, or playful and colourful with reindeer, elk, deer, Santa and Father Christmas, and toadstools in pink, light blue, green, or even black. The toadstool is a motive in almost all lifestyle areas, just as Alpine and homeland motives such as deer, edelweiss, and mountains. The feeling of homeland and security has now been carried forward into modern times.
