Post-Fair Report TrendSet Summer 2009
Full order books, a good atmosphere and more attendees
The 94th TrendSet – International Trade Fair for Living, Dining and Lifestyle came to an end on July 20 in Munich on a strong note. With a plus of 1.68 percent in the number of attendees, TrendSet was able to record a slightly increased tendency compared to Summer 2008. This time, TrendSet counted a total of 31,894 trade visitors from Germany, Austria, Switzerland, northern Italy, and the neighbouring EU member nations. Fortunately, the number of exhibitors remained stable. Despite the difficult economic situation, industry leaders and newcomers presented their newest products and best sellers to the international trade public in eight halls at the Munich Trade Fair Centre. TrendSet once again maintained its strong position as the most successful and largest trade fair of its kind in the southern German-speaking area.
Positive outcome and an optimistic look into the future
Klaus Pannier, Managing Director of TrendSet, was pleased with the number of orders placed and the contentment of the exhibitors: “This summer, we were even able to even achieve a slight increase in the number of trade visitors—despite the current economic situation and the loss of attendees other shows have been forced to accept. In this case, TrendSet’s focus on the southern German-speaking area has been a real plus. This focus led to a clear increase in the number of trade visitors from Germany and the neighbouring countries. The spending mood was good and the attendees ordered to the satisfaction of the exhibitors. That puts us in an optimistic mood for the important upcoming Christmas business and for the future of the industry.“
Huge choice, good overview
The summer TrendSet is an important event date for information and ordering for industry leaders and buyers. Especially attendees from southern Germany, Austria, Switzerland, and neighbouring eastern EU member nations value the central location, the easy-to-follow organisation, and the pleasant atmosphere of the fair. Attendees are easily able to gain an overview of the current products on offer, trends, and new products, and place orders—much to the satisfaction of the exhibitors. “We were able to post an increase in the number of customers of over ten percent,” said Ralph Unterbäumer, Sales Force Manager Germany from Leonardo. “The customers even made arrangements up to February 2010.” Casablanca was also able to show a slight increase in turnover. “After a rather slow start, we were pleased at the end about the good sales figures with a slight plus compared to the previous year,” explained Arndt Janßen, Marketing Manager at Casablanca. Wolfgang Koppmann, Assistant Sales Manager at Seltmann Weiden, which exhibited directly at TrendSet for the first time, attested to a successful future for TrendSet: “TrendSet is an excellent fair with a well-thought-out concept and a good atmosphere.”
Cosy home with friends and family
In economically insecure times, a cosy home, friends, and family offer a feeling of security. The home takes centre stage. This was also demonstrated at TrendSet: The homing trend continues. It is all about making oneself comfortable at home, decorating rooms with beautiful furniture and accessories, inviting friends over for a meal, and cooking, laughing, and enjoying together. Or it is about treating oneself to an extended day of wellness in one’s own bath. For these little pleasures in life, consumers are willing to spend money even in economically insecure times, leading consumer researchers confirm. TrendSet was the perfect stage for setting these trends in scene. The range extends from nostalgic to modern, with quality, sustainability, and craftsmanship continuing to play a decisive role. The trend colours are white, silver, and every shade of red. In addition, purple, brown, and green, accompanied by grey and various hues of blue, are in fashion.
